Everything can be used to construct a lightsaber, from plumbing components to model kits. The top designs for 3D printed lightsabers are listed below.
Following the 1977 release of the first Star Wars, many generations have grown up dreaming of having their own laser sword, sunblade, or one of the numerous other variations on the theme. A lightsaber is one of the few weapons that can be recognized immediately. As a result, one of the world’s biggest fan bases exists today for Star Wars.
Although they are not used exclusively, force users frequently use lightsabers in Star Wars. This elegant weapon is suitable for a more civilized age and requires skill and training. Its main features include a projected plasma blade focused through a kyber crystal.
Initially, the iconic lighting for these movie props was created using highly reflective materials and skilled film mechanics. The lightsaber hilt was then constructed using kitbashed tools like sink knobs, pieces from other weapons, and whatever else they could find. Although these parts aren’t as easily accessible as they once were, all is not lost. Making your own lightsabers from materials like plumbing fittings and PVC parts has become popular, but your results may differ.
Thankfully, we now have the option of 3D printing. You can create almost any variation of a lightsaber (along with your own ideas!) using a 3D printed model with high levels of accuracy and minimal material expenditure. Below, we’ve highlighted a variety of characters’ lightsabers. Still, some of these designers have also produced entire libraries of models, so be sure to explore what else is available.

Anakin Skywalker
Our opening submission is primarily from the light side of the force. This showpiece, which slides open to reveal the crystal chamber inside, is undoubtedly a conversation starter.
This lightsaber’s opening mechanism uses magnets to keep it closed. According to the designer, the base is very long, so there is a split file if you need to print it in two parts. Still, if you don’t want the hassle of incorporating a crystal, there is an alternative solid file.
Another maker posted a fantastic video of the printing and assembly online. Glue is used to assemble the numerous tiny pieces, but take care not to glue anything that should move!

- How Printable/Popular is it? Of writing, six more creators had uploaded pictures of their prints, and VanessaE had remixed this design to include more LED lights. At the time, and now for the dark side: this design effectively converted a “laser katana” into a “laser broadsword,” which generated a lot of discussions online. Additionally, the modeler added a feature that allows you to thread your own actual wire across the printed piece because of how noticeable the wiring runs across the handle.

And then over to the dark side, this design caused many online talks when it effectively transformed a “laser katana” into a “laser broadsword”. Additionally, because of how prominent the wiring across the handle is, the modeler added an option to thread your own actual wire across the printed piece.
The smaller crosspiece sections will require some support, but the larger primary pieces should be able to be printed without it.

Rey
Legend has it that yellow lightsabers, which combined fighting prowess and diplomatic maneuvers, were the badge of office for the Jedi Sentinel. Despite the short time we spent with Rey using this weapon, it quickly gained notoriety for being the first yellow live-action blade.
Savi’s Workshop is a location in the brand-new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge experience at various Disney Parks. Participants can create custom hilts in this workshop to fit a standard lightsaber blade. To create a hilt based on Rey’s distinctive lightsaber style, the designer of this model remixed a BrightSuns base design capable of holding this standard lightsaber blade.
Brighton offers some post-processing, assembly, and configuration suggestions because this model will need numerous supports. There is also a stunning replica of the Dark Rey lightsaber if you’d prefer something more akin to Rey’s recognizable switch-saber.

Revan
We don’t often see someone switch to a different lightsaber, much less have it be significant enough to be included in a package like this. Revan, the main character from the first season of Knights of the Old Republic, is unlike most people, though, and he has established himself as someone you don’t want to mess with.
Choosing one lightsaber model from dozens created by Brad Harris (also known as CaseStudyno8) was challenging. Still, we ultimately decided on Revan as a less-expected character with an impressive set of lightsabers. However, Brad’s library has some fantastic works, so be sure to look there. Printing the components in the STL files’ original orientation is advised. The emitter guard should be the only piece needing support, but automatically generated supports should work fine.

7th Sister Sith Inquisitor
How can the design of the dual-bladed lightsaber be improved? Make dodging even more difficult. The Sith Inquisitor lightsaber from Star Wars Rebels, as depicted by the 7th Sister, is just an incredible work of art, with details that almost make it seem like it belongs in The Lord of the Rings than Star Wars.
The designer also produced a comprehensive video tutorial on constructing and putting together this fantastic work of art. They advise applying paint to the inset runes and wiping away extra paint before finishing this piece. As a result, the contrast between the two surfaces is clearly visible.

Leia
This lightsaber appearing on screen came too late, and Carrie Fisher will be sorely missed. This particular item now has a full-length extendable and collapsible blade, which many lightsabers don’t frequently have, and supports dual-extrusion printing. However, considering that 3dprintingworld is a master of collapsing weaponry, this piece is genuinely deserving of the Princess of Alderaan.
Even though this model was created with dual-extrusion, a single-extruder option is also offered. No supports are needed, and printing the blade pieces in vase mode is advised. Additionally, they strongly recommend using a 0.4-mm nozzle with a 0.43-mm line thickness so that the blades are two shells thick. A minimal assembly is needed for this model, just screwing on the caps and inserting the blades.

Obi-Wan Kenobi-Inspired
This design offers two different difficulty levels, in contrast to others on the list. There is a simple design and a more complex assembly with over 14 pieces.
The style is simply referred to as “Star Wars Lightsaber.” Still, we believe Obi-is Wan’s the design that it most closely resembles—possibly with a little bit of Luke Skywalker thrown in. Jacky (also known as Valcrow) has produced a comprehensive walkthrough of the assembly and painting, which is available on YouTube.
Some users needed to scale the pinwheel STL up to 105 percent because they thought it was a little on the small side. We advise trying 102 percent as a happy medium because this might be too much. The pin and switch have also been updated for simpler printing and less cleanup.

Darth Vader
The original. The baddest. The red one. Even though lightsabers are famous in and of themselves, Darth Vader’s is among the best.
This particular variant is based on a different UnimatrixRed model depicted in The Empire Strikes Back. They’ve made a lot of lightsabers themselves, similar to Brad Harris, and their other work is worth looking into.
For a better finish, the designer advises using supports for the lower knob and clamp sections and enabling ironing on the release bar. Be aware that some upright grips models require removing a support disk before assembly.

The Darksaber
“It is very heavy. How come it’s so heavy?” This weapon, which a Mandalorian Jedi forged, is as much a badge of honor as it is a powerful weapon. Cults user Yeetkus was able to modify those techniques for the Darksaber after being inspired by 3dprintingworld’s collapsing lightsaber designs. The modeler described some of their struggles building this piece, going through 22 different design iterations before settling on one.
Printing the Darksaber will need supports on the top and end of the hilt. Except for the “detail rectangle” piece, all of the other files should be in their ready-to-print orientation. Michaelvel designed a belt clip for this model, which could be helpful when cosplaying with this item.

Ahsoka Tano
The design of Ahsoka’s lightsabers reflects her outstanding philosophical views. She is a fan favorite and stars in her own Disney+ series. Ahsoka is neither a Jedi nor a Sith, one of the few people with white blades. Brad Harris has once again produced some stunning designs, and they are impressive. In addition to the Clone Wars design, models from Star Wars Rebels are shown.
Although it is stated that all files should be in the correct orientation for printing, results may vary depending on the printer. The handles were also remixed and divided by The Melon Felon to enable printing in separate colors.

Bonus: Lightsaber Stands
When printing off something unique, it’s essential to keep in mind that you want to be able to display it and make sure it’s in a secure location. Go inside the lightsaber display.
The first of our several designs is a tilted display stand for lightsaber hilts. The 19 recorded makes and seven special remixes of this model demonstrate its elegance, simplicity, and limitless adaptability.
On the other hand, the lightsaber wall holder might be more your style if you want to keep your lightsabers on the wall for easy access. Another straightforward design accomplishes the task with the least amount of resources. It avoids getting in the way of the lightsabers themselves.
Finally, check out the wall display for Savi’s Workshop Lightsabers if you want a wall display that instantly grabs anyone who enters the room. This will take a lot of time to put together and print (along with many Rub ‘n Buff), but the outcome is spectacular.
