We’re going to fix, or at the very least workaround, broken Thingiverse download all files features today. This is a really simple fix.
The feature in question is the download all files button on any Thingiverse page, which does exactly what you expect it to do when you click it. Thingiverse should start zipping up all the files in the download, but that feature has suddenly stopped working. And when it worked, it was a huge time-saver, but it no longer does. So I was disappointed when I went to download all files from a Thingiverse item I wanted to print and none of the files downloaded. Instead, I had to click the download button for each file, wait a few seconds for it to begin, and repeat the process nearly a dozen times.
Manual Fix Thingiverse Download All Files Feature
After you’ve clicked the download all files button, go to your web browser’s URL bar. Change the word “files” at the end of the URL to “zip”, then press return, and you’ll have all of the files in a convenient zip archive in no time. Like it used to be, the archive contains all the contents, including the license and readme files. So, ideally, Thingiverse will improve the download all files button to truly download all files; in the meantime, thanks to James Bolling and the BV3D: Bryan Vines YouTube Channel, we now have this solution and can continue to use Thingiverse without becoming frustrated.
Extension for Chrome
This addon adds a button to Thingiverse pages that allows you to download a .zip file containing all the files. Coolshrimp Modz is the creator of this mod.
Thingiverse eliminated the download all button, forcing you to download each file individually.
You can now re-add a button to the site and download a single.zip file containing all the files.
I promised you a quick fix for Thingiverse’s download all files feature, so now that we’ve completed it, let’s print something cool.
