ASICS, a well-known sportswear company, recently entered the 3D printed footwear market by releasing its first pair of 3D printed flip flops. Even though these sandals appear perfect for wearing by the beach or around the pool, they were made for athletes and sportspeople. Thanks to 3D printing, the Japanese company created the ACTIBREEZE shoe, which is excellent for resting. The sports brand spent three years perfecting the new shoe’s development process.

Asics New 3D Printed Flip Flops Designed for Athletes

It’s no secret that 3D printing and footwear complement each other well, which makes sense given the many advantages it offers: customization of the upper or sole to the wearer’s specific foot, and availability of a variety of materials that improve foot ventilation, enhanced lightness, and comfort, etc. More and more shoe companies rely on cutting-edge technologies, at least occasionally, when creating new products. Numerous sportswear companies, including Adidas, Reebok, and Nike, have already taken on the challenge of enabling additive manufacturing. And this time, we’re bringing you 3D printed flip flops made for athletes rather than sneakers or high-fashion shoes.

There was no way to create the unusual structure of the shoe other than through 3D printing. According to the following description on the ASICS website, it has a honeycomb structure, which improves comfort and breathability for the feet: “The ACTIBREEZETM 3D SANDAL is designed to aid in recovery following a run. It is constructed using a parametric design that offers zoned comfort and improved breathability. This design, which is entirely 3D printed, also has an extra-thick lattice structure that lets your feet and body relax so you can be prepared for your next performance.”

Although we are unsure of the 3d printed flip flops’ 3D printing method and material, we would adore putting our feet inside them. The lattice structure appears to provide a very soft and cozy feeling. It is simple to understand why the shoe would be appropriate for them during the recovery phase, regardless of the competition in which an athlete is. The Japanese company’s website lists its 3D printed flip flops for $80. The shoes are available only in black and are unisex.
